Socrates is a very famous thinker. He lived in Greece a very long time ago; over 2,500 thousand years ago, in fact.

Socrates liked to think about what makes things right, and what makes them wrong. He is the first person whose ideas about these things got written down.

As far as we know, he didn’t write anything down himself, but other people wrote his ideas down. I am not sure if his ideas were written down properly, or if they were changed a bit by the people writing them.
